Marina, Jr. Date of Death: Saturday, October 22, 2005 Residence: Steamboat Springs, CO Age: 32 Obituary:Luis Modesto Marina, Jr., 32, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, formerly of Rome, died Sunday, October 23,2005, in an airplane accident. He was born February 8, 1973 at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs the son of Luis and Mercedes Arzuaga Marina. Luis was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class 1991 with a ROTC Scholarship, from Penn State University in 1996 earning a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and received his M.B.A. from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in June 2004 in Finance. He served in the United States Air Force for six years from 1996 -2002, achieving the rank of Captain. On March 31, 2001 he married Tracey Nuss in St. Paul's Church, Rome, New York. He was employed by KittyHawk Partners Consulting Firm in Steamboat Springs as an Aerospace Managing Consultant and previously he managed the purchase of precious metals at Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan. While in Rome he was a member of St. Paul's Church. Surviving besides his beloved wife, Tracey, are his beloved parents of Rome; one sister and brother-in-law, Mercedes Raquel and John Ziegler, Ogdensburg, New York; one brother, David E. Marina, Charlotte, North Carolina; his paternal grandmother, Elena Rivera Marina, Arecibo, Puerto Rico; two nieces, Alexis, Ina, two nephews, Michael, Cory, many aunts, uncles, cousins, mother-in-law, Sumie Herrell and his two faithful dogs, Mini-Me and Fuji. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Juan and Petra Garcia Arzuaga, paternal grandfather, Luis Modesto Marina and his faithful dog, Natasha Luis was loved and admired. He touched many lives in a positive way. Luis loved the outdoors, including soccer, fishing and hunting. He especially loved Colorado. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at. Paul's Church Saturday 11:00A.M. Friends may call at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome Friday 6:00P.M. to 9:00P.M.
