Obituary: Harvey (Hap) S. Potter, Jr., 52, of 6247 Route 62, S., Hillsboro, Ohio, died December 19, 2005 from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born August 5, 1953, in Rome, the son of Harvey and June Waterman Potter, Sr. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and served in the US Air Force from 1972 to 1978. Hap also graduated from Riverside Aeronautical School and received his A and P License from the FAA. He was employed at Airborne Express for several years as an inspector. He was a Methodist.
Hap loved music and playing the guitar. He was an avid sports fan and bowler and had rolled a perfect game. He was a craftsman who loved woodworking and making special things for his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, June and Howard Williams of Rome and his father Harvey Potter, Sr., of Rome; a sister and brother-in-law Ronda Lyn and Ernest Weismore, of Oneida; and two half-sisters, Shelley Miles and Deborah Ingersoll, both of Westernville; and three half- brothers and two sisters-in-law, Andrew and Susan Potter, Rome, Christopher Potter, Rome and Richard and Mindy Potter, Germany; several aunts and uncles, Jane Brady, Clearwater, FL, Marie and Wayne Towne, Vonne and Nelson Haynes, Gale Budlong, Clarence and Maryann Waterman, all of Rome, Beverly Peart, Philmont, NY; a nephew and his wife, Shane and Laura Weismore; a niece and her husband, Kristine and George Brandt; a great-grand-nephew Brandon, several cousins, special friends Suesie Stryder and Brian Bauer of Hillsboro, OH and his beloved canine companion Sasha.
Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St. Tuesday 1pm. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Contributions may be made in Hap's memory to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
