Name: Louis D. Mazzaferro Date of Death: Saturday, October 15, 2005 Residence: Rome NY Age: 80 Obituary:Louis D. Mazzaferro, 80, of Rome passed away October 15, 2005 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. He was born in Rome on January 1, 1925, the son of Frank and Letitia Verdgeline Mazzaferro. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1943. On August 10, 1946 he married Pauline A. Schillaci in St. John the Baptist Church. Louis was a partner with his brothers in the operation of Mazzaferro's Meat Market. In 1975 he retired from his business and served as a court officer in New York State Supreme Court until 1990. He served as 1st Ward Chairman for the Rome City Republican Committee and was a Commissioner of the Rome Housing Authority for 25 years, also serving as its chairman. Louis lived his life for his beloved wife of 59 years and his family, and that love will live on in their hearts. He is survived by his wife Pauline, his daughters Catherine and her husband Judge Daniel C. Wilson of Rome and Grace and her husband James E. Dailey of Erie, PA.; three beloved grandchildren Catrina Wilson, Catherine Dailey and Patrick Dailey; two brothers and their wives Frank and Marie Mazzaferro and John and Maryann Mazzaferro; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Mazzaferro and Angelina Schillaci; two brothers-in-law David Schillaci and Joseph Schillaci and their wives all of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Catherine and Isabelle and three brothers, Dominick, Joseph and Salvatore. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, at 9:45am and a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church to follow at 10:30am. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Contributions in Louis' memory may be made to the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired or to the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Foundation. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Richard Sullivan and his staff, physicians and staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, the Oneida County Public Health Nurses, the Visiting Nurses Association and our friends, family and private nursing aides who helped Louis through these difficult days. Services: Calling hours Tues. 2-4pm and 7-9pm Funeral Wed. 9:45am and 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Church
