Name: Helen U. Audette Date of Death: Saturday, March 31, 2007 Residence: Lowell NY Age: 83 Obituary:Helen Uhorchak Audette, 83, died Saturday, March 31st, at her home after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 6, 1923, in the town of Westmoreland, and was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna Pischak Uhorchak. She graduated from Westmoreland Central School in 1940, and married Normand Audette of Fall River, Massachusetts, on March 28, 1953 at the Fort Leavenworth (Kansas) Post Chapel. They recently observed their 54th wedding anniversary. In her early years, she worked as a bookkeeper for the NCAA, as well as other small businesses. Later in life, she translated a love for sewing and crafts into a part-time business, frequenting craft shows throughout the area. She was a life member of Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary and was a former Girl Scout Leader serving councils in North Carolina, Connecticut and Central New York, as well as the Girls Scouts Overseas. Surviving are her husband, Normand; three daughters, Regina Larrabee, of Welcome, Maryland, Norma Vinchkoski and her husband Keith, of Danbury, Connecticut, and Marlene Audette, of State Road, North Carolina; and a special sister-in-law, Mariette (Mimi) Uhorchak of Sidney, New York. She has seven grandchildren - Kathryn Larrabee, Michelle and Bryan Vinchkoski, Angela, Andrea, Anessa and Analea Audette; and numerous very special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers - Walter, Eugene and E. Milton Uhorchak - and a sister, Mary Grandfield. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 11:30am at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Lowell Volunteer Fire Department, 5584 State Road 26, Rome, NY 13440, or to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY, 13413.
