Sawicki, 87, of Taft Ave., Rome, passed away, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born February 4, 1922 in Rome the daughter of Alexander and Victoria Lecinski Zacharicz. Helen was educated in Rome. On October 25, 1952 she married Stanley Sawicki, Sr. in Rome, who previously died on January 8, 1996. She was employed at Kresge's Department Store and later was employed by Rome Specialty Manufacturing. Mrs. Sawicki was a member of Transfiguration Church and the Rome Polish Home. She was deeply loved and appreciated by family and friends. Helen will always be remember for her love of Bingo, Sewing, Quilting, Crossword Puzzles and visiting her family "In the Country". Surviving are two daughters, Doreen Sawicki, Diane Sawicki and her fiancé, Rick Adams, all of Rome; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley and Christine Sawicki, Jr., Rome; John Sawicki, Titusville, Florida; James Sawicki, Upland, California; seven grandchildren, Amanda Harper, Jonathan and Tammy Kierpiec, Joshua, Alexander, Shannon, Zachariah and Nathaniel, two great-granddaughters, Makenzie, Hayley, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jan Gagnon, Little Falls; and two special friends, Pauline Osborne and Diane Brockway. She was predeceased by her only sister Sophie Kwasniewski. Services: A memorial mass will be held at Transfiguration Church Monday 10:30A.M. Interment West Amboy Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
