George St., Rome, died Monday, December 19, 2005 in Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Blockston was born August 18, 1924 in Housatonic, MA, a daughter of Alex and Mary Parzych Gromelski. She was educated in Rome schools. On February 16, 1946 she married Frank Blockston in Transfigurationa Church. Helen was a member of the Transfiguration Altar and Rosary Society and the Transfiguration School Mother's Club for several years. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Alexis Loomis, and her special friend, Marty Suleski, Steuben; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and special friend Elaine Medick, Frank and Cathy, all of Rome; one sister, Laura Lachut, Rome; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan and Ann Drisgula, Skaneateles, Richard and Sophie Gromelski, Rome; a sister-in-law, Desiree Gromelski, Rome, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Myslinski, Rome; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Tina, Lisa, Frank III, Jessica, David and Kelly; five great-grandchildren, J.C., Connor, Erin, Eriana, and Jason; and a very, very special friend, Helen Czarnecki. Funeral services will be held Friday, 9:00 a.m. from the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., and 9:30 a.m. at Transfiguration Church. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Contributions in Helen's name may be made to Transfiguration Church Memorial Fund.
