Borkowski, 94, of Henry St., died January 17, 2007 in Rome Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 18, 1912 in Duryea, PA, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Verinko Hantz. She was a high school graduate of Newton, PA schools. On June 16, 1934, she married Stanley Borkowski in Duryea. He died July 25, 2001. Genevieve was a member of Transfiguration Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and also the Rome Polish Home. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sylvia Borkowski, Syracuse; a son-in-law Daniel Mumpton and spouse Patti, Rome; two sisters, Mildred Campanella, Auburn, Henrietta Sepesie, Clark Summit, PA; ten grandchildren, David and Catherine, Debra and Scott, Steven and Ann Marie, Michael and Amy, Gail, Jennifer and Jeff, Michelle and Eric, Daniel and Moe, Beckey and Peter, Sarah and Michael; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Rachel, SarahBeth, Joel, Ryan, Hunter, Emma, Haley, Anthony, Ashley, Derek, Ryan, Trey, Andrew, Zachary. She was predeceased by a daughter, Paulette Mumpton. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Saturday at 9:15 a.m. and Transfiguration Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Contributions in Genevieve's memory may be made to the Transfiguration Church Memorial Fund.
