Name: Jack P. Bean Date of Death: Friday, July 15, 2005 Residence: Rome NY Age: 78 Obituary:Jack P. Bean, 78, of 2006 N. Madison St., died July 15, 2005 at Rome Memorial Hospital, after being stricken at home. He was born May 2, 1927 in Winfield, Kansas, the son of Percy and Alice Jensen Bean. Mr. Bean was educated in Warren, PA schools and graduated from Syracuse University. On September 2, 1950, Jack married Gloria Koebley in Warren, PA. Mr. Bean was a Physical Education teacher with the Rome School District from 1958 to 1985. He served in the United States Navy. Jack was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rome Elks, and the Toccolana Club. Jack was active in gymnastics his whole life. In high school he was a State Champion; in college he was on the first Syracuse University team and lettered there for four years. In Rome, he started the boys gymnastics program at RFA and was the only gymnastics coach the school ever had. During this time, he was honored as New York State Gymnastic Coach of the Year. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Amy, and her husband, Bob Van Meter, Rome; two sons, Jeffrey Bean, Syracuse, Jonathan and his wife Carol Bean, Baldwinsville; and four grandchildren, Jaron Van Meter, Julianna Van Meter, Joshua Bean, and Jasminn Bean. Jack was predeceased by a sister, Kathryn Jensen and a brother, Dale Bean. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., Monday 11:00A.M. Interment Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Services: Calling hours Sun. 2-4pm and 7-9pm Funeral 11am at the funeral home
