Jones, 90, formerly of Floyd Avenue, Rome, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at Bethany Gardens after a long illness. He was born October 22, 1915 in Old Forge, New York the son of William and Annette Yerman Jones. Mr. Jones was educated in Holland Patent. On August 7, 1944 he married Jennie Denyl in Rome. She died November 4, 1997. Roger was employed at Revere Copper and Brass for forty-one years retiring in 1972. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the European Theatre. Mr. Jones was a member of Henry P. Smith Post of the American Legion. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Bradley Buckingham, Taberg; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary Jones, Las Vegas, Nevada; One sister, Lorna Oaster, Waterford, New York; three granddaughters, Gina Wilder, Rikki Kelley, Mary Ellen Inman and one great-grandson, Cody Wilder. Roger's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Bethany Gardens for their kindness and compassion shown to him during his long illness. Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George Street, Rome Tuesday 10:30A.M. Interment Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 4:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. Contributions may be made in Roger's memory to the charity of ones choice.
